punk noise against militarism (fracture,solar logos sect, slum, mknaomi, szkto) gig heated up. mknaomi got near white hot -> spurred on to the point of live capture. maybe some weird sound bouncing off the wall at the start or i think the phone moved at some stage, or you get used to it |m?,
the only breath taken might have been solar logos sect with their ritualistic droning mantras. but i think even that was adding fuel to the fire.

I think omniversal hum is mostly a unifying stoners spread. thematically. conspiratorily. Bruce russell concocted lots from his small set up. feedback and introspection . missed SULLA LINGUA : (, mimmie was fantastic to watch. the music was suitably weird but also very groovy at times. the effect of the dancers shadows (choreographed?) was incredile as was the performance as a whole.
never gelled with theatre much. But mimmie will be recommended.

A member of another band noted how much of a wanker you'd have to be to use two guitar amps. This came up in conversation as we were asking to use another amp. Which a member of the other band seemed to reneg on their emailed offering!?.
surreal experience. Mint Tulip left an impression. Without a trace of testosterone. Droning keys, simple drum machine, slow airy strumming, classic leads, songs sung well, reverb, all satisfyingly blending together the room. The set was like a proverb relating to doing one thing well.

For nick's birthday, everyone recieved a heavenly reward. among many others playing in a crazy lineup at spit. Set times were large enough for another poster. HVNS RWRD played upstairs in the kitchen which was hot and cool.

Today I'm doing something I've never done before and probably will never do again. I'm reviewing a coffee. I went on an excursion with my Tafe class to Melbourne Zoo yesterday. The chai mix they were using at the Meerkat Cafè was not vegan (it contained milk powder) so I ordered a soy latte.
Flavour: I don't like coffee. 1/5
Price: $6.35? get outta here 1/5
Experience: I overheard the barista say "How am I supposed to make a coffee in this!?" - 'this' being my 500ml insulated drink bottle. Well, I'll tell you how. You get a shot glass, you use the shot glass to catch the coffee coming out of the machine, then you pour the coffee from the shot glass into the bottle. Deadass, it's not that hard. The most skilled barista I ever worked with in my hospitality days had a regular customer who always gave her a drink bottle to put his coffee in. Did she complain about it? No. She did latte art in it. Goddamn. 0/5. Zoo though 5/5. Check out the pics I took!

Graina Loose Chai

Is this the first time I'm reviewing the chai I said I was gonna review in my last review? It might be, but I can't be bothered checking. That would require too much scrolling. Graina is a nice shop that sells things by the kilo. They put the things in paper bags, or in a receptacle that you've brought yourself, so that you don't have to use disposable plastic. Plastic BAD!
Flavour: I like it. 4/5
Price: $8.90 per 100 grams. That's pricey 2/5
Experience: I like the shop. The staff are friendly and they're usually playing some weird music, one time they were playing a self help/motivational podcast 4/5

the Royal Melbourne Show

M never drinks coffee. sleepy ducks. prize fish. when we arrived, the first thing we saw was a lost child surrounded by security, after we got coffee, we stepped out to witness the family reunited (movie magic), great entertainment immmediately out of the gates. dog shows, no photos of the woodchop competitions or expensive snacks.

Kangan Chai Latte

Did I say I was gonna review the Contraband chai in my last review? Pfft, nah. I think I'm actually done with Preston, for real this time. I finished the Business Diploma I was doing at Melbourne Polytechnic and am now studying Animal Care at Kangan Tafe in Broadmeadows. (Does anyone know why it always feels about 5 degrees colder in Broadmeadows compared to anywhere else in Melbourne?) They have a canteen. The canteen has a chai latte.
Flavour: It's a little too sweet and spicy for my liking. 2.5/5
Price: $5.90. 2/5
Experience: The cafeteria is noisy and there are always people crowded around the sink area when I wanna wash my keep cup because that's where the microwaves are. 2.5/5

Rhubarb Rhubarb Rainbow Chai

I've managed to avoid Highpoint so far, but ended up back at Preston Market lol. I still go to Tafe in Preston and have some cat sitting clients there so maybe it's not goodbye to Preston after all. I probably should have reviewed the Contraband chai while I was there. Oh well. I went to Rhubarb Rhubarb, the organic wholefood store, in search of a nice vegan cheese and came across some loose leaf chai that they sell by the kilo.
Flavour: Really really good 4.5/5
Price: I have no idea but everything in that shop is very pricey 2/5
Experience: It was nice to be back at Preston Market. I miss it 3/5

A chai tea in a Star Wars: The Last Jedi mug

Well I never got around to reviewing the Chai Latte from Contraband at Preston Market because my apartment building burned down and was deemed uninhabitable by Darebin City Council and the Victorian Fire Department. I still don't really know what happened (and likely never will), but apparently a candle flame made contact with a bed somewhere on the top floor.

Any way, now I live in Maribyrnong. I am simultaneously very close to, and repelled by, Highpoint Shopping Centre. There is a small mall called Milleara sorta close by, which is where I've been shopping lately. I am yet to find a shop there that sells a nice loose leaf chai, so I've just been buying the Aldi teabags.
Flavour: It's bitter, but not bad once I've added milk and a bit of sugar 3/5
Price: I can't remember how much it costs. I wonder if I can google it. Ok so according to google the black tea in the same size (50 bags) costs $2.99. Assuming the chai is around the same price, thats pretty good. 4.5/5
Experience: Milleara Shopping Centre is a bit like Northcote Plaza; built long ago and never renovated, it's a boring old time-warp of a place. I don't like going there but I don't want to go to Highpoint. 2/5

recent obsession turned merch table purchases, the band impresses in every way. Their signing with warner music must have something to do with the fairytale sequence of events starting with mysterious sponsored instagram posts - to - 'you will like them' verbal recomendations - to - purchases at the merch table $$$.
They sounded so good together, mix conspiracy/rant incoming - as the show went on the live mix got more and more 'commercial'. The gig started with the band slamming into the PA, then after a while every few songs you could hear more and more compression. By the end of the show the drum overheads were about half of the PA.
I thought it was a real shame. painting a picture in my mind that the band had sorted something at soundcheck and we were all being shortchanged by the end of the show.
At some point people started yelling at keyan (guitar) to drink, and alex (bass) used the pitch bend on the sample playing to curve the situation.

can't listen to studio stuff after hearing their live sets on youtube - irl was a treat.
